Calabasas Voter Records Custodians
Calabasas is an incorporated city in Los Angeles County, but registration data is not kept as a city hall name directory. The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk acts as the county elections official, and the California Secretary of State sets statewide voter-file rules and runs the statewide request program. City election material may appear in Calabasas City Clerk records, but registration status and county voter records route through the RR/CC and state election systems.

California Voter Records Fields
A formal voter record can carry more detail than a self-service status check, but California treats it as restricted data. The SOS and LA County materials identify fields used to identify a voter, determine county residence, deliver voting materials, and track participation. Voting history means whether a voter participated in an election. It never shows how a person marked a ballot.

Calabasas Confidential Voter Rules
California law draws a firm line between voter-roll information that may be released for approved purposes and information that remains confidential. Los Angeles County's voter information page cites older Government Code section 6254.4 language, while the research notes place the modern public-records framework in Government Code section 7924.000 and the broader CPRA recodification.
Confidential by law. Home address, telephone number, email address, certain precinct or registration numbers, and prior registration information are not disclosed except under Elections Code section 2194. Confidential voter registration records under Elections Code sections 2166, 2166.5, 2166.7, and 2166.8 are excluded from SOS voter-file releases.
California Safe at Home and related confidential-voter status rules can shield address data for qualifying protected people. Pre-registration records for 16- and 17-year-olds are also excluded from the SOS voter file. For Calabasas voter records, that means a missing address or excluded record is often a legal privacy limit, not a search failure.
California Voter File Requests
The strongest documented route for a broad Calabasas voter-roll request is the California SOS voter file process. - Wait for review and processing. The PDF states 7 to 14 business days once the request is received.
County, statewide, and district files are distributed as encrypted DVD data in plain text tab-delimited files for voter data, voting history, and district data. Specific voter record requests are sent by encrypted WinZip attachment by email.
LA County Voter Registration Requests
Los Angeles County adds a local path for voter-file information. The RR/CC's voter information request page covers certified copies, voter history, and voter-file searches by mail or in person through the Election Information Section.
This county process is useful when the search is narrower than a statewide file or when a certified copy or voter history search is needed for a Los Angeles County voter.

Mail requests must include the requester's name, address, birth date, signature, telephone number, and a self-addressed stamped envelope. Send them to Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk, Election Information Section, 12400 Imperial Hwy., Room 2013, Norwalk, CA 90650. Appointments can be scheduled up to eight weeks in advance, with one person per appointment.
Calabasas Voter Misuse Limits
Voter registration information is not public data for unrestricted people finding. The SOS application warns that California law controls who may use the data and for what purpose. Prohibited uses include an unapproved purpose, unauthorized sharing or transfer, harassment of a voter or household, commercial advertising or marketing use, unsecured publication online or offline, and some text-message advertising violations.
The California CPRA deadline statute is useful for general records timing, but it does not override voter-file restrictions.
For voter rolls, the more specific election statutes control access, use, exclusions, and penalties.
Penalty warning. Misuse of California voter-file data is a misdemeanor with significant fines under Elections Code section 18109.
Keep a copy of the approved purpose and security plan with any file received. Do not post voter records publicly, share them outside the authorized request, or use them to contact or pressure a voter in a way the application does not allow.
Calabasas Great Registers
Historical voter records can help when modern tools are too current or too restricted. The California State Archives local government records collection includes Great Registers, the older voter rolls used in California counties. For people tied to older Calabasas, Las Virgenes, rancho, San Fernando Valley, or Los Angeles County geographies, those registers may preserve names that do not appear in modern city systems.
Great Registers may identify eligible voters by name, age, nativity, occupation, residence, naturalization details, and registration dates, depending on the era and the surviving volume. Pair them with LAPL city directories, State Library directories, newspapers, and the Calabasas History Collection when a name, street, or family appears before city incorporation.
